An ad hoc group of residents is planning to bring back Community Day to Pine Plains on Saturday, June 13, reviving the townwide celebration last held during Pine Plains’ bicentennial in 2023.

Residents met Tuesday, April 14, to discuss this year’s event, which is expected to include a free breakfast at the Pine Plains Fire Company, a community market, live music, children’s activities, and free food and refreshments from local eateries.

This year’s event is expected to include a scavenger hunt, a bounce house, and a possible corn maze for children. Organizers are also planning activities at Stissing Center and the Graham-Brush House.

Organizers are seeking broad participation from local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups interested in setting up tables or otherwise taking part in the day’s festivities. Volunteers say they hope the event will serve both as a community gathering and a showcase for what Pine Plains has to offer.

Beth McLiverty, a Pine Plains resident helping organize the event, said planners are aiming for a free, family-friendly day in the center of town that brings people together.

“It’s something that families can do with kids,” McLiverty said. “People can invite relatives and friends, we have something that’s suitable for everybody.
I think that’s really important these days.”
