Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino has extended the county’s State of Emergency and travel restrictions as blizzard conditions continue Monday.
The emergency order now restricts all non-essential travel on roadways in Dutchess County until 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23. County government offices are closed for the day, and Dutchess County Public Transit bus service has been suspended.
The county remains under a Blizzard Warning, with high winds and an additional 4 to 8 inches of snow forecast throughout the day.
“This has been a very dynamic and difficult storm, creating dangerous conditions and challenges for highway crews,” Serino said in a press release. “For public safety, we are extending the State of Emergency, including restricting all non-essential travel on roadways, until 4pm today. Please stay home and stay safe.”
Under the extended order, travel is prohibited except for essential personnel, including medical and health facility workers; law enforcement and public safety personnel; first responders; utility, maintenance and public works crews; snow removal and road treatment teams; facility operations staff deemed necessary by their employers; and public employees involved in emergency operations.
Residents in need of shelter can call 845-486-3300 during business hours or dial 2-1-1 after hours. Updates are available at dutchessny.gov/stormupdates.

Dear Patrick,
Thanks for this update. I’m very impressed with how your “paper” is now a bulletin service as well as a weekly publication. Pine Plains is my mother’s home town, and we’ve maintained a summer camp on Stissing Lake my entire life, so I’m grateful I can keep keep in touch with things off-season! Keep up the terrific work: your reporting and features are stellar!
