The Pine Plains varsity track team delivered a standout performance June 3-4 at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship qualifier meet, with several athletes winning Section IX Class C events and advancing to the state championships.
The state meet is set for June 13-14 in Webster.
Madison Williams won the girls 200-meter dash in 25.634 seconds and also helped lead the girls 4×400-meter relay team to a first-place finish in 4:10.00. The relay team included Michelle Blackburn, Izzy Montoya, Violet Bliss and Williams, with Amelia Anderson and Miley Agustin listed as alternates.
Bliss also won two individual distance events, taking first in the girls 1,500-meter run in 4:40.78 and the girls 3,000-meter run in 10:22.39.
On the boys side, Daniel McPherson won both distance events, placing first in the 1,600-meter run in 4:25.11 and the 3,200-meter run in 10:07.92.
The wins send a strong Pine Plains contingent to the state championships, marking another high point for the Bombers’ spring season.
