Pine Plains faces 385 sidewalk hazards, a survey by Precision Sidewalks showed Thursday, with town officials favoring roughly $45,000 in spot repairs over an estimated $148,000 for full replacements.

The hazards — ranging from minor cracks to uneven slabs — were found on Pine, Smith, Maple, Myrtle, Academy, Church and Main streets. Repairs would cover about 46 linear feet of concrete.

“I believe this should be our next topic that we discuss with Choice Words,” Supervisor Brian Walsh said, referring to the grant-writing firm retained by the town.

Beyond sidewalks, the board heard several infrastructure and quality-of-life updates. Recreation Director Brian Coons said seniors using the upstairs municipal community room above the library were “being frozen out” because of air-conditioning problems; the board said new thermostats are on the way.

Officials reported that a closed section of Route 199 between Pine Plains and Millerton is slated to reopen Friday, Sept. 19.

The board also reviewed enforcement options for “rogue dumpsters,” saying it will apply existing codes before considering new legislation.

Conceptual drawings for a new town hall are expected next month.

The Beautification Committee said the town park kiosk has been repainted. The Recreation Department reported progress on basketball planning and disc-golf installation.

The board appointed Sarah Foglia to a new six-year term as town assessor.

The next Town Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
