Peter Richards, formerly an area resident, died on Sept. 1 in Sunrise, Fla. He was 95.
Born Aug. 6, 1930, in Shoreham by the Sea, Sussex, England, he was the son of Sir Gordon Richards and Margery Winckle. He married Rose Marie O’Dricsoll in Dublin, in 1955. She died in 1983 in Amenia.
Richards was an active horse jockey, trainer, and stud farm manager in Europe, Canada, and the United States.
He is survived by a son, Gordon Richards, and a sister Marjorie as well as by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22 at Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, and burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Church Graveyard, Millerton.
