George King Wittlinger of Ancramdale died on June 14. He was 91.

Born Aug. 11, 1934, in Hyde Park, he was the son of George H. and Josephine (King) Wittlinger. He was a graduate of Westbury High School on Long Island and attended college at SUNY Farmingdale and received a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry from Cornell University.

He was Ancram Town Justice from 1999 until 2021, a past president of the Columbia County Magistrates Association, and a member of the New York State Magistrates Association. He was also a longtime member and past president of the Ancram Volunteer Fire Company.

Wittlinger is survived by his wife, Ruth (Raitz) Wittlinger; his former wife, Agnes Wittlinger; a son, Daniel Wittlinger and his wife, Lindsy Barrett-Wittlinger; three grandchildren: Jackie Wittlinger, Morgan Wittlinger and Milo Wittlinger; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Another son, George K. Wittlinger Jr., a daughter, Dianne Wittlinger, and a grandson, James John Wittlinger, died before him.

A funeral service will soon be scheduled at the Ancram Cemetery, County Route 7, Ancram, with a reception to follow at the Ancram Firehouse. The family asked that contributions in Wittlinger’s memory be made to the Dianne Wittlinger Memorial Tree Fund, c/o Old Westbury Gardens, P.O. Box 430, Old Westbury, N.Y. 11568.
