A number of drunken brawlers again disturbed the peace of the village by fights, profane and indecent language. These things are becoming altogether common, and if our village would keep its good name our citizens must put a stop to such doings. A gang including that vile woman, H.C., terrified people and outraged decency. The Register attempted to have justice meted out to the offenders, but failed because there was no one to enforce the law. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the H.C. nuisance but she is still at liberty. One officer, it is said, refused to serve the warrant and another couldn’t find her. She has made her boast that no one dare arrest her, and it begins to look that way. If such things as she and that gang are superior to law and defy all authority, it is high time the respectable people of this village organize a law and order society and put it in force. What have you to say, gentlemen?
