Ryan Jay Meagher died on Feb. 19 at his home in Elizaville. He was 43.

Born on Aug. 1, 1981, in Poughkeepsie,  Meagher graduated from Red Hook High School in 2001, and then joined the United States Marine Corps, with whom he served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait.

After leaving the Marines, Meagher received an associate’s degree in fire science from Schenectady College in 2016 and was a firefighter and emergency medical technician in East Glenville, N.Y.

Meagher is survived by his fiancée, Ashleigh Hogan of Elizaville; his father, Orland Miller of Tivoli; his siblings, Brandi Powers of Savannah, Ga.; David (Sherice) Powers of Livingston, N.Y.; Mari Powers of Tivoli; Brandon (Mary) Powers of Germantown; Orlana (Bradley) Miller-Toombs of Pine Plains; and Shannon Meagher of Pleasant Valley; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary (Elderkin) Miller.

Visiting hours will be on March 21, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with military honors taking place at 4:15 p.m., at Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook, N.Y.
