Ruth B. Yrus died on March 11 at the Sharon Health Care Center. She was 91.
Ruth was born on May 30, 1932, the daughter of Henry and Myrtle Birdsall in Norwalk, Conn. She married John Yrus, who survives her, on July 25, 1953. They moved to Pine Plains in 1959.
Yrus worked for Cavalier Gage Electronics in Salt Point, and also cleaned houses. She was a bookkeeper for Deuel’s Hardware in Pine Plains, and also drove buses for the Pine Plains Central School District.
In addition to her husband, Yrus is survived by two daughters, Judy (Richard) Schneider and Susan (Davis) Simmons; five grandchildren, Richard, Robert, and William Schneider, Travis Simmons, and Kirby O’Berry; and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held on April 10, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 67 Poplar Ave., Pine Plains. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations in Yrus’s memory be made to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 67 Poplar Ave., Pine Plains.
