Ronald Alan Tice, a long-time teacher and football coach at Stissing Mountain High School, died on Sept. 12. He was 75.
Tice was born on June 20, 1948, in Geneva, N.Y., to Helen and Ronald Alfred Tice. He graduated from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, in 1966, and earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from SUNY Potsdam in 1970. After college, he worked as a chemist at Smith Brothers Cough Drops in Poughkeepsie, but then decided to pursue a career in teaching. Tice taught science at Stissing Mountain High School for 30 years, and was head coach of the Bombers varsity football team for 15.
Tice is survived by his partner of more than 30 years, Alida Ransom, his two daughters, Erin (Sean) Coy and Meghan Tice (Andrew Corsini), and his granddaughter, Ashlyn Coy. He is also survived by his four siblings, David (Diane) Tice, Denise Brio, Darlene (Stanley) Davis, and Jayne (David) Couch, and many nieces and nephews.
