The Pine Plains varsity softball team improved to 4-0 on the season Friday, April 17, defeating the New Paltz Varsity Huguenots 7-6 in a riveting game at Stissing Mountain High School.

Pine Plains rallied from deficits of 3-0 and 6-5 to remain undefeated. Talia Durant led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. Her home run to center field in the bottom of the sixth gave Pine Plains a 5-3 lead, but New Paltz answered with three runs in the top of the seventh to go back in front.

In the bottom of the seventh, Addy Farinaccio delivered a two-out single to score two runs and win the game for Pine Plains. Farinaccio finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Brooke Sikula started in the circle and pitched 6 1/3 innings, and Durant earned the win in relief. The game also marked a celebration of the team’s five seniors: Eliza, Abbey, Rachelle, Brooke and Paige. 

Pine Plains is scheduled to host Dover on April 23 before traveling to Binghamton for the Morabito Tournament on April 25 and 26.
