Residents of the Pine Plains Central School District passed the Board of Education’s $37.6-million 2024–25 budget on May 21 by a vote of 285 to 106. Of the estimated 6,713 eligible voters, 6% turned out, approving all propositions, including the purchase of three school buses for a total of $461,970 – and the three BOE candidates, who ran unopposed. Results are below.

Proposition 1: 2024–25 School District Budget

Shall the PPCSD Board of Education be authorized to expend the sum of $37,689,744 for school district purposes for the 2024-2025 school year and to levy the necessary tax?

Proposition 2: Bus Purchase

Shall the PPCSD Board of Education be authorized to purchase three 65-passenger school buses, including cameras and necessary equipment, each at a maximum estimated cost of $153,990 for an aggregate maximum estimated cost of $461,970…and that sum shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said school district and collected in annual installments…?

Proposition 3: Repair Reserve Fund

Shall the PPCSD Board of Education fund the [established] repair reserve fund by transferring up to $2 million of unappropriated, unassigned fund balance from the  2023-2024 school year to the repair reserve fund?

Shall the PPCSD establish the office of Student Board Member, a non-voting member of the BOE, who may sit with and participate with the BOE at all public meetings, except executive sessions?
