The Pine Plains Bombers turned in a strong performance on May 3 at the Race at the Oval Office track meet in Staatsburg, competing against 26 schools from across the state. Violet Bliss, a junior, won the girls varsity 1,500 meters, finishing in 4:44.59, while her classmate Daniel McPherson took the boys varsity 1,600 with a time of 4:18.06.

Freshman Madison Williams had a standout day, finishing second in the girls 400 meters (1:01.86) and fifth in the 100 (13.51) in the freshman-sophomore division. Williams also anchored the Bombers’ 4×100-meter relay of Amelia Anderson, Lena Clanahan, and Tania Montoya, which came in 11th (56.94).

Senior Jordan Dolansky placed ninth in the boys varsity 110-meter hurdles (17.84) and 10th in the 400 meters (54.70).

Other top performances included:

  • Patrick Roach, senior, 12.65 seconds in the boys varsity 100 meters 
  • William Campbell, junior, 2:40.21 in the 800 and 6:01.10 in the 1,600 meters
  • Eben Dedrick and Daniel Leach, both sophomores, finishing 11th and 12th, respectively, in the boys varsity 3,000-meter steeplechase

Seventh-grader Bronwen Dedrick competed in both the girls freshman-sophomore 1,500 meters and in the high jump, while eighth-grader Lena Clanahan ran 14.16 in the 100 in addition to her contribution to the relay.

In the girls freshman-sophomore high jump, Montoya cleared 3’9” to place 13th. Anderson and Dedrick each cleared 3 ‘6”.

The Bombers will return to action for a Varsity invitational at Middletown High School on May 10.
