Election day: the weather was like summer almost with an occasional sprinkle or threat of rain. In this village (Pine Plains) hustlers of both parties were on hand early and by noon something over 150 ‘cattle’ were led to the ballot boxes to ‘vote’. A considerable amount of juice was swallowed during the day and in the afternoon there was a disgraceful street fight.
