
Nicholas H. Hedges of Elizaville died on June 21. He was 30.
Hedges died when he lost control of his motorcycle on Jackson Corners Road near Hoefer Road, according to the New York State Police.
Hedges was born on March 9, 1996, to Arthur and Gina (Miller) Hedges.
Growing up, he belonged to Troop 32 in Pine Plains and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Stissing Mountain High School in 2014, attended Purdue University and received a bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran College. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army and, at the time of his death, was pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at Tufts University.
Hedges is survived by his father; a half-sister, Heather Pappalardi; two half-brothers Chris Rielly and Nathan Hedges; five nieces, Gabby Pappalardi, Julianna Pappalardi, Isabella Hedges, Charlotte Hedges and Fiona Hedges; a nephew, Jacob Hedges; two uncles, Scott Miller and Michael Miller; an aunt, Jennifer Kennington; and several cousins. His mother died before him.
Visiting hours were held on June 28 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains.
