Milan Town Clerk Ingrid Kulick opened bids for the replacement of the Town Hall roof at the board’s meeting on Monday, June 15.

Originally, the town put out a request for proposals within Dutchess County, but after receiving only one bid it expanded the request to the entire state. Seven bids were received and opened at the meeting, ranging from $56,000 (VAD Contractors Inc. in Staten Island) to $248,000 (Nuvista Designs in Blauvelt). The town will pass the proposals onto the roof replacement architect, Optimus Architecture of Rhinebeck, for review.

In hiring news, Kulick read a correspondence from Deputy Town Clerk Catherine Gill, announcing her resignation. The board unanimously voted to hire Shannon LaBrusciano to take on the role, beginning on June 29. “She’s got a lot of experience working with town highway departments and other government agencies,” said board member Kevin Pike. “I think she’s going to be great.”

After putting out a request for proposals for the financing of a 10-wheel dump truck for the Highway Department, the board voted to accept the proposal of the Bank of Millbrook, which offered the lowest bid — $285,000 in bonds with a yearly interest rate of 3.25% for a term of five years.

The board also voted to approve the 284 Agreement, which allows Highway Superintendent Glenn Butler to spend highway funds each year. Significant projects for the funds include the repaving of Woody Row Road and Broadview Lane.

The Town Hall will be closed on July 3 in recognition of the federal holiday.

The next Milan Town Board will be held at 7 p.m. on July 20.
