
Michael H. Launhardt died on Aug. 19. He was 77.
Launhardt was born on Sept. 15, 1948, in Rhinebeck to M. Henry Launhardt and Jean Lifer Launhardt. He grew up in Red Hook and graduated from Red Hook High School in 1966, and he became a stone mason.
He married Linda Jean Ferris on April 20, 1968. She survives him. They raised their family in Elizaville and later settled in Beavertown, Pa.
Besides his wife, Launhardt is survived by three children: Timothy (Lien) Launhardt, Christie (Michael) Oliveri and Kelly (Michael) Giuditta; and two grandchildren, Dominick Giuditta and Layla Giuditta. He is also survived by his sister, Ann (Del) Tanaka.
Visiting hours will be held on Aug. 28 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 8063 Route 22, Copake. A funeral service will be held there at 2 p.m. on Aug. 29, with inurnment following at West Copake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made in Launhardt’s memory to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Gift Fund, supporting COPD and non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP) research.
