A notice was placed on a bridge in this place one day last week stating that if a man, whose name was given, did not stop going to another man’s house, he would be treated to a coat of tar & feathers and has considerably alarmed residents in that section. He went to the home of Michael McIntosh (Mrs. M. being alone at the time), helped himself to soap and water, and spent two or three hours shaving himself and was insolent and ugly, refusing to leave until driven away by Philo Tanner, who lives nearby. Remnants of woodchucks, fowls etc. were found in the vicinity, indicating that the fellow has been living on such things. Officer Tipple, John Mackay & Mr. McIntosh searched the woods but failed to find this mysterious personage.
