Mary Jeanne McCarthy died on Nov. 5 in Canaan, Conn. She was 91.
McCarthy was born on March 30, 1934, in Sharon, Conn., the daughter of John and Myrtle
(Cooper) Juckett. Her husband, Raymond J. McCarthy, died before her.
McCarthy was the owner and principal broker of Purdy Real Estate in Stanfordville, and was one
of the first women brokers in the area.
McCarthy is survived by her children: John (Patricia) Purdy, Dana (Christina) Purdy, Kevin
(Sandie) McCarthy and Shawn (Jessica Piche) McCarthy. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Aaron Purdy, Kyle (Andie) McCarthy, Conor (Kira) McCarthy, Caelyn McCarthy, Olivia McCarthy, Aidan McCarthy, Jacqueline Grocki and Sophia Grocki as well as by five great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be on Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to noon at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S.
Main St., Pine Plains, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Amenia Union Cemetery, Amenia.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Sharon
Audubon Center in Sharon, Conn., or another animal or nature charity.
