Karen A. Brooks of Pine Plains died on March 6. She was 76.

Brooks was born on Jan. 5, 1950, in Cobleskill, N.Y., the daughter of Herman and Helen
Mattice.

Her career began as a music teacher in Pine Plains schools, and she later worked in the
Webutuck and Highland school districts. She later became a tax auditor for New York State,
from which she retired. She also played the organ at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church and
the Pine Plains Methodist Church.

Brooks is survived by six children: Howard Brooks, Kevin Brooks, John Rockafellow III, Anita
Corrado, Gordon Brooks, and Audrey Brooks; two grandchildren: Hunter Corrado and Emily
Brooks; and two brothers, Shane and David Mattice.

Visiting hours will be on March 13 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S.
Main St., Pine Plains, followed by a short prayer service. Interment will take place privately in
East Worcester, N.Y.
