John V. Orlandi died August 5 at his home in Pine Plains. He was 91. 

Born in Manhattan, he was the son of Vittorio and Mary (Sartori) Orlandi. 

He joined the Air Force in 1951 and served until 1955. He married Sonja Anderson in 1959 and they soon moved to Pine Plains. He worked for IBM as an engineer until his retirement. 

In retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling and dining. He was an avid gardener, especially of tomatoes. 

In addition to his wife, Orlandi is survived by his son, Michael Orlandi, and his significant other, Angela Amelio; and a daughter, Karen Murphy, and her husband, Patrick Murphy. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Meghan Martin, Connor Murphy, Michael Orlandi Jr., and Brent Orlandi, and two greatgrandchildren, Maizie Martin and Cooper John Martin. Another son, John Orlandi Jr., died before him. 

A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be held on Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church at 1 p.m., with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. 

The family requested donations in Orlandi’s memory be made to the Pine Plains Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 100, Pine Plains, NY 12567.
