Joan K. Hapeman of Elizaville died on Dec. 1. She was 87.
Hapeman was born on Aug. 21, 1938, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Joseph and Geraldine (Nelson) Galvin. She was a graduate of All Saints Catholic High School in Brooklyn.

She was a certified nursing assistant for 23 years.

Hapeman is survived by a son, Dean (Sue) Hapeman, and a daughter, Kim (John) Shea. Another son, John Hapemen, died before her. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Lisa, Tyler, Kathleen, Kayla, Brooke, and Damien and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be on Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook. A graveside service will be held on Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at Elizaville Methodist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made in Hapeman’s memory to the
Elizaville Methodist Church.
