
James F. Donovan Jr. has died after a brief illness. He was 76.
Donovan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 8, 1947, to James and Jennie Donovan. In 1966 he enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served until 1968. He was the director of environmental services at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx until his retirement.
In 1985, he married Alice Le Beau and moved to Pine Plains. She survives him, as do their son, James Donovan III; their daughter, Kellyann (Justin Ross) Donovan; a grandson, Logan Daniel Ross; his brother, Francis Donovan; and four sisters, Maryellen Donvan, Jennifer Donovan, Annmarie (Daniel) Turner and Francine (Paul) Carbone; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 South Main St. in Pine Plains. A prayer service will take place at 4 p.m. Donovan will be interred at Saratoga National Cemetery next summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made in his memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
