Ian Cadenhead, a long-time Pine Plains resident, died on Nov. 30. He was 93 years old.

Cadenhead was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Nov. 6, 1931, and grew up in Willoughby, Ohio, the son of Rebecca and James Cadenhead.

He attended Harvard University and later the Yale School of Drama and married a fellow student at Yale, Edith Lebok. That marriage ended divorce. In 1973, he married Julie Pars.

He began a career in theater in repertory productions in Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Vermont. He worked for many years in theatrical and industrial productions as a producer, director, designer, actor and production stage manager and also did renovations of various real estate properties. He was involved in the early days of the TriArts Theatre in Pine Plains and when it moved to Sharon, Conn.

Cadenhead is survived by his wife and their daughter, Mackenzie (Dan Buckley) Cadenhead; two sons of his first marriage, Bruce (Jennifer) Cadenhead and Stuart (Amy Blackwell) Cadenhead; and seven grandchildren, Jackson, Rebecca, Mikaela, Sean, Phinn, Lyra and Miles.

The family requested that those remembering Cadenhead offer a helping hand to someone in need and make donations to VNSHealth.org/donate (designation Hospice) or to another charity.
