Helen Shewchesin, a longtime resident of Pine Plains, died on Feb. 26. She was 102.
She was born on Oct. 3, 1923, to Walter and Mary Szybinski.
Shewchesin is survived by a sister, Irene Dunajski; three daughters: Maureen Geis, Brenda
(Don) Roski, and Nancy Halas; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-
grandchildren.
Her husband, Walter Shewchesin, died in 1990. Two sisters, Jean Rosenberg and Rose Burruso,
and three brothers, Eddie, Chester and Julian Szybinski, also died before her.
Visiting hours will be held on March 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes,
7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains, followed by a short prayer service. Interment will take place at
Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
