International guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto brings his innovative and world-centric musical talents to The Stissing Center Saturday, December 17, 2022 for one night only! A unique composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter from Kyoto, Japan, he began playing the five-string banjo when he was thirteen and took up the guitar shortly after.
In 2000 he received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the U.S. While in Boston, he formed his own group “Interoceanico” which consists of musicians from different continents including famed Colombian singer Marta Gomez. The group released three acclaimed albums and Hiroya has released three solo albums. He won 2nd place in the International Finger Style Guitar Championship in 2018 and again in 2022.
Tsukamoto’s instrumental abilities are astounding, but his performances allow him to engage with audiences thru a personable and genuine approach, captivating his listeners. In addition to his evening performance, Hiroya will also teach an acoustic finger style guitar workshop at The Stissing Center earlier in the afternoon, at 3:00 PM. He’ll be demonstrating fingerpicking techniques and chords… and more. Space is limited. The workshop is $35 for 75 minutes.
The evening performance begins at 7pm, doors open at 6:30 PM. General Admission seating.
Tickets are $20 In advance or $25 At The Door.
