This is what is left of what was known in the 19th century as the Bostwick House. When Reuben Bostwick, the first president of the Pine Plains bank, purchased the property in the 1800s, it was one of the larger and finer houses in the hamlet. But in recent years, the foundation of the house has been crumbling. A renovation was deemed prohibitive and permits were obtained for the demolition. The property’s owners plan to rebuild a similar house and have salvaged historic details for the new dwelling.
