George Rosenquist, 98, died on April 19 in Florida. He was 98.
Rosenquist was born on April 27, 1926, in Hillsdale, the son of Gustav and Irene (Helenius) Rosenquist.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1947, and then worked for IBM as a senior design engineer before opening his own business as a machinist.
He was active in the Pine Plains Lions Club and was the president when the new pavilion was dedicated. He also served as a town council member for the town of Gallatin before moving to Florida. In Florida, he joined the local volunteer fire company and also served as the president of the homeowners’ association.
Rosenquist is survived by his three children: Dorothy (Bill Jr.) Hedges; Richard (Elissa) Rosenquist; and Suzan Bartolomeo; four grandchildren: Michael Hedges, Bryan Hedges, Matthew Bartolomeo and Corina Klay; and six great grandchildren: Gabriel Hedges, Cody Hedges, Caitlin Klay, Michael Klay, Jocelyn Bartolomeo and Luke Bartolomeo. His wife, Dorothey “Deanie” Rosenquist, and brother, Gustaf Ewald Rosenquist, died before him.
Graveside services with full military honors were held on April 28 at Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains.
