
Gemma Maurina, 94, of Pine Plains, died on Sept. 22.
Born on Feb. 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of John and Victoria (Rauzi) Rizzi.
Maurina worked in sales at Betesh, a high-end children’s clothing company, before moving to Pine Plains to retire.
Her husband, Roberto Maurina, predeceased her. Maurina is survived by her daughter, Linda, and her husband, Bob Cordella; four grandchildren, Brian Cordella, David Cordella (Anne), Robert Cordella (Jocelyn); John Cordella (Andrea); and three great-grandchildren, Emma Maurina, Shea Eoin and Connor Patrick.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, Poplar Avenue, Pine Plains. Interment will follow immediately in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Maurina’s memory may be made to The Lustgarten Foundation or to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
