The former home of Lia’s Mountain View, a Pine Plains restaurant that served the community for four decades, is back on the market. The 3.1-acre commercial property at 7685 Route 82 is listed for sale at $845,000.

The property was purchased in January 2024 for $625,000 by Irene and Jack Banning, following the retirement of the Mirto family, who operated Lia’s Mountain View Restaurant until the end of 2023. After acquiring the site, the Bannings renovated the brick and wood frame building, originally constructed in 1990, and reopened it as Mountain View Events, positioning it as an event and wedding venue.

Renovations included raising the ceiling in the dining room, removing carpeting and polishing the concrete floors, installing new paint, lighting fixtures and furniture, and renovating a “bridal suite” with a kitchenette and bathroom.

“Our effort to run the space as an event and wedding venue for large groups for about 1.5 years, coincided with a movement towards smaller weddings, backyard weddings and a general contraction in that market, so the business we attempted to create was not sustainable,” Irene Banning said.

The property includes a restaurant, tavern and a roughly 900-square-foot kitchen, which listing agent Rich Brenner described as “enormous.” The building also features a separate dining room, bar and tavern seating, outdoor dining with views of Stissing Mountain, ample parking, and space suitable for live entertainment or private events.

“Obviously, it would be wonderful if another family restaurant would open its door there, and fill the hole left by the departure of the original Lia’s Mountainview Restaurant,” Banning said. “But the space is extremely flexible, and a variety of businesses could find a home there.”

Brenner said the property remains well-suited for restaurant or event use.

“This is really a great place and was a very successful restaurant. The dining room is spacious and the kitchen is enormous!” Brenner said. “The bar has seating at the bar or at tables in the side room which provides plenty of space for entertainment. Weather permitting, outside dining offers a picturesque view of Stissing Mountain. It’s fully functional as a restaurant or event space and ready for the next owners to take it to the next level.”

The site has its own septic system, central air conditioning, and forced-air heat. Annual property taxes are listed at $9,898.

The property is available for private showings. Listing agent Rich Brenner can be reached at 914-456-4691.
