
Floyd Irving Isham Jr., a longtime area resident, died on May 26. He was 86.
Isham was born on Aug. 25, 1939, in St. George, Vt., the son of Floyd Irving and Hazel (Thompson) Isham Sr. He enlisted in the United States Navy after high school, serving from 1958 until 1961, and later served in the Vermont National Guard.
He married Nancy L. Cross in Dover Plains on Aug. 11, 1990. She died in 2005.
Isham worked for the Tri-Wall Container Corp. in Wassaic for 15 years and also worked as a self-employed private caretaker for more than 25 years, caring for properties in Shekomeko, Pine Plains and Ancramdale before he retired.
Isham was a life member of the Millerton American Legion Post # 178 and a former member of the Amenia Fish & Game Club. He was president of the Dutchess County Federation of Fish and Game Clubs for eight years and was on its legislative committee for a number of years.
Isham is survived by two children, Mary Kunda and Theodore Isham; three stepchildren, Candy (Bill) Strong, Brian (Kathy) Marshall and Tanya Mayhew; two grandchildren, Samantha (Raymond) Harrison and Cody Mayhew; a great grandchild, Harper Lee Harrison; several siblings and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, three sisters, Lucille, Leonna and Roselyn, died before him.
Graveside services and burial will take place on June 3 at 11 a.m. at Ellsworth Cemetery, 25 Cemetery Road, Sharon, Conn. The family asked that memorial contributions be made to the Millerton American Legion Post # 178, 155 Route 44, Millerton, N.Y. 12546.
