Farm Toy Sale Resumes After Pandemic Pause 

Toy tractors and miniature farm animals once again filled the auditorium on March 18 at Stissing Mountain high school in Pine Plains. The FFA Toy Show and Auction, an annual event, had taken a breather last year, as had so many public gatherings as a result of the Covid pandemic.  

For over 20 years, farmer and master mechanic John Boadle has brought together collectors and lovers of farm toys to display or sell their treasures. 

The afternoon also featured a junior tractor pull. Like the tractor pull at the FFA Fair in October, contestants climb into the driver’s seat and attempt to pull a trailer which is loaded with increasingly heavy weights. The only difference in the junior version is that these are pedal tractors, powered by the strength of young legs. 

Participants in the 2023 Junior Tractor Pull were Stella Christinat, Acedyn Adriance, Charlotte Fierro, Leah Fletcher, Miles Osofsky, Kody Lawrence, Paxton Cornelia, Dominic Fletcher and Patrick Allison. All pulled valiantly, but the top prizes by age went to Fletcher (6 and under), Lawrence (7-9), and Allison (10-12).
