Stissing Mountain High School honored academic excellence and community leadership on Dec. 10, when 18 students were inducted into the National Honor Society’s Teesink Chapter during a ceremony in the school auditorium.
Senior Jordan Dolansky was joined by 17 juniors in receiving this prestigious distinction. The junior inductees included Eliza Baden, Michelle Blackburn, Violet Bliss, Matthew Chirinos, Ainsley Dedrick, Paige Foley, Alyssa Fredericks, Sean Gieseler, Emmaline Haire, Hailey Lamping, Fatima Lopez, Abigail Mayes, Riley Millar, Siena Millar, Olivia Osofsky, Madilyn Shiels and Savannah Strawn.
These students were celebrated for their dedication to the four pillars of the National Honor Society (NHS): character, scholarship, leadership and service. The ceremony highlighted their achievements and commitment to these core values, reinforcing the significance of their contributions to both the school and the wider community.
The inductees were each welcomed by a current member and introduced with a slide highlighting their academic and extracurricular achievements. After donning ceremonial robes and lighting individual candles, they joined the seated group on stage. Four large candles, representing NHS’s core values, served as the ceremony’s centerpiece.
The National Honor Society was established in 1921 by Dr. Edward Rynearson, a high school principal in Pittsburgh. It now has 16,000 active chapters.
