Christmas was very much like any other day in the village, only perhaps a little duller. The day was cloudy with a little rain now and then though the temperature was above freezing. The dampness made it unpleasant to be out. The stores were closed early in the day, which added to the dullness. Nearly everybody received presents of some kind and most of our people had good dinners.
