David W. Holmes of Pine Plains died at home on May 30. He was 48.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1976, in Farmington Hills, Mich., to Susan (Egan) Cleary of Pine Plains and David W. Holmes Sr. of Grass Lake, Mich.
He worked as an interior and exterior house painter, was an avid fisherman who loved to spend hours on a lake or river and liked to tinker with and rebuild small engine and spend time drawing and woodcarving.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children: Amanda Jochum, David F. Holmes and Caden Holmes; two sisters, Bonnie Matthies of Pine Plains and her son, Austin; and Lori Douglass (Mike) and her daughters Kyla, Teagan, and Freya of Gallatin. He is also survived by an aunt and numerous cousins.
There will be a graveside service at the Rhinebeck Cemetery on June 15 at 3 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at the Red Hook Elks Club from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. His ashes will be brought to his favorite place on Little Portage, Mich., near Lake Michigan.
