
David R. Tetor died at Northern Dutchess Hospital on Aug. 20. He was 80.
Tetor was born on Dec. 16, 1943, in Montour Falls, N.Y., to Donald and Margaret (Howell) Tetor. He graduated from Cornell University in 1965 and joined the Army, where he served until 1969.
Tetor was a former president of the Pine Plains Central School District board of education, helped form the Stanfordville Little League, and was a member of the Pine Plains Future Farmers of America, the Lions Club and the Stanfordville Grange. He also served as a member of the Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency and was on the board of the Dutchess Stadium, now known as Heritage Financial Park. In 2002, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Cornell University for his lifetime achievements.
Tetor was an agricultural agent for Cornell Cooperative Extension in its Millbrook office, where he founded the Dairy of Distinction program. He also provided the farm and agriculture report for radio stations WKZE-FM and WRWD-FM for more than 30 years. At his retirement he was the agriculture agent for both Dutchess and Ulster counties.
Tetor is survived by his three children, Brian (Lida) Tetor, Michael Tetor, and Eric (Jennifer) Tetor; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Samantha), Melanie, Felicia, Aiden and Cadence; two great grandchildren, Kylie and Kinsleigh; two sisters, Doris Allen and Kimberly Driver; and a brother, John Tetor.
He was predeceased by his wife, Louise, and a sister, Janis Sepos.
