Stanford resident Darrin Buonocore was reelected on Tuesday, Dec. 9, as a commissioner of the Stanford Fire District, running unopposed.
Buonocore’s new five-year term begins Jan. 1. He has served as a fire district commissioner since 2015. He works full-time for the Village of Millbrook Highway Department.
“I’m 58 years old,” Buonocore said. “I grew up in Stanfordville, I’ve lived here for 58 years, and this is my way of giving back to the community.”
The Stanford Fire District is governed by five commissioners. They are responsible for setting the district’s budget and tax levy to fund the operations and equipment needs of the fire department and rescue squad. In 2026, the fire district will operate with a budget of $476,777.
