Cathy R. Bancroft, 71, a former resident of the Pine Plains area and a current resident of Hudson, died on Aug. 3 at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.
Born on Jan. 5, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Vincent D’Ambrosio and Isabel (Hill) Ishmael. She was married to William Bancroft III, who died before her.
She worked for 42 years at the Devereux Foundation in Red Hook.
Bancroft is survived by three children: Marcia (Robert) Berry of Millbrook; Michelle (Don) Empert of Clinton Corners; and James (Carly) Funk of Chicago; four grandchildren: Ryan, Shane, Derek, and Adeline; a brother, Vincent D’Ambrosio; two step-sisters, Lisa Cutten and Debbie Ciaravino; her step-mother Anita D’Ambrosio; her sisters-in-law, Patty, Donna, Mary, and Cindy; and a brother-in-law, Keith, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family asked that donations be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
