Longtime area resident Bonny Lee Hughes died at her home on Jan. 30, 2023. She was 86. Hughes was a Dutchess County native, and worked for IBM before a long career as a home health aide. In her lifetime, she belonged to the Stanford Fire Department ladies auxiliary, served as captain of the Stanford rescue squad and was a member of the Stanford Garden Club. Hughes was also a singer and belonged to both the Stanfordville United Church of Christ chorus and the Rhinebeck Choral Club, along with being an active participant in the Pine Plains seniors group.
She is survived by three children, Cheryl Darling, David Craig and Jeffrey Craig; a sister, Lynne Diane Beust; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A viewing and memorial service was held at Peck and Peck Funeral Home in Pine Plains on Feb. 7. The family requested donations in her memory be made to Willow Roots or the Dutchess County ASPCA.
