Betty Lou Walsh of Gallatin died on July 10. She was 83.

Walsh was born on May 9, 1943, in South Portland, Maine, to Henry and Edith Samuelsen. She attended Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, and later earned a master’s degree in physical education from the University of Bridgeport. She taught at Forth Hamilton High School and then Port Chester High School in Port Chester, N.Y.

She married Brian Peter Walsh on Oct. 8, 1966, and moved to Greenwich, Conn., and then to Gallatin in 1991.

Walsh is survived by her two sons, Steven Brian (Kelly) Walsh and Jonathan Peter (Aimee) Walsh; four grandchildren: Henry, Ashton, Braeden and Emma; a sister, Lois Ann Glatzel; a Douglas (Philip) Olsen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband died before her.

Visiting hours will be on July 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at Faith Bible Chapel, 222 Silver Mountain Road, Millerton. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations in Walsh’s memory be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, N.Y. 12534, or to Faith Bible Chapel, 222 Silver Mountain Road, Millerton, N.Y. 12546.
