Barbara Irene Bay died at home on Jan. 15, 2025. She was 84.
Born on March 1, 1940, at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY, she was the daughter of Irene (Glazier) and Robert L. Baker Jr., both deceased. She was predeceased by her sister Janet Filippini, sister-in-law Barbara Muldoon, nephews Kevin D’Errico and TJ Muldoon, and grandsons Robert Weatherborn and James Bay.
On July 2, 1960, she married John L. Bay, who survives her.
Barbara is survived by her children, Diana of Wilmington, NC, John (Mary Ann) of Pine Plains, NY, and James “Bubba” of Pine Plains, NY; eight grandchildren, Jenesis (Chris) Campbell, Cassandra Millius, Holly, Heather, Joshua, Lauryn, Logan, and John (Megan) Weatherborn; six great-grandchildren, Xander, Elliot, Sterling, Iris, Hazel, and Robert; and her sister Lois D’Errico of Las Vegas, NV.
Barbara worked as a medical secretary in Ossining, NY, and Sharon, CT, for eight years and at Pine Plains Central School for 25 years, retiring in 2004. She was a charter member of the Pine Plains Bomber Boosters, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pine Plains Hose Company, and served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains. A remembrance service will be held at 7:45 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place in the summer. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to a charity of your choosing in Barbara’s honor.
