We attended the camp meeting and were thoroughly disgusted with it as a religious gathering. At the rate it is going it will be an amusement in a year, and should be advertised as such. We doubt if any good comes of it; rather, it encourages evil. Liquor can be had and that makes people quarrel and fight. Ball playing is a fine amusement in its place, but like many other amusements it becomes a sin out of place. If a good sermon be preached, one could scarcely hear it because of the noise. It is a shame that colored or white people can’t have an open air meeting without it being disturbed by those who have no regard for religion.
