The annual Sunday “Jamboree” under the title of “Grove Meeting” took place at Wiley’s Grove and was the occasion of bringing from some unexplored region a number of “yahoos” who cursed and swore and drank whiskey and “chawed” peanuts and made nuisances of themselves on the trains. On the grounds there was a meeting with preaching, praying and singing accompaniments. Zion church raked in a lot of ducats and the Poughkeepsie, Hartford & Boston Railroad Railroad Co. did a good business with their extra trains.
