Arthur Joseph “Junior” Tanner, Jr., 87, a lifelong area resident, died on Feb. 25 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, Conn.

Tanner worked as a truck driver and warehouse manager for Arnoff Moving and Storage in
Lakeville, Conn, for 35 years before starting his own business, Tanners Home Services, LLC, in
Millerton, which is still in operation.

He was born June 13, 1938, in Sharon, the son of Arthur Joseph and Bertha (McCauley) Tanner,
Sr., and attended school in Millerton. Tanner was a life member of the Millerton Gun Club and
the North American Hunt Club.

In addition to his wife, Roberta (Twing) Tanner, he is survived by four children: Arthur (Dorothy)
Tanner III; Sheila (Thomas) Stickles; Joanne (Donald) Sweeney, all of Millerton; and Rita (Pat)
Ezersky of Lakeville, Conn.; three sisters: Gloria Stickles of Pine Plains, Diane Baker of Dryden,
N.Y., and Virginia Whitbeck of Lakeville, Conn.; a brother, Charles Tanner of Cambridge, N.Y.; 12
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son, James A. Tanner,
Sr.; six sisters: Alice Tweed, Lena Francis, Ceil Ralph, Carol Call, Bev Stickles and Shirley Rivard;
and one stepbrother, Robert Mayhew, died before him.

Calling hours will be on March 6 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a funeral service at the Scott
D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Ave., Millerton. The family asked that contributions in
Tanner’s memory be made to the Millerton Gun Club, Inc., P.O. Box 720, Millerton, N.Y. 12546.
