In preparation for the Nov. 4 election — and for early voting, which begins on Oct. 25 — the Herald will be hosting Meet the Candidates sessions in Pine Plains on Monday, Oct. 13, and in Stanford on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

We encourage readers with questions for the candidates in Pine Plains to submit them here, and for the candidates in Stanford here by Friday, Oct. 10. Doing so will not only provide potential questions for each session but also help clarify which issues are of greatest concern to the community.

In Pine Plains, each of the candidates for Town Supervisor and Town Board has pledged to appear, as have those for Dutchess County Legislature (19th District). (It’s unclear whether both people running for County Comptroller will be there.) The discussion will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Community Center.

The Stanford forum, which will include all candidates for Town Supervisor and Town Board, will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at Town Hall. The Stanford Grange will also host a moderated discussion among those running for office at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23.

  1. After reading an article in the Herald, I can see that Pine Plains is in need of Town, School and Recreation finances. I would like to ask the candidates if they are aware of any programs that could combine those efforts. For example, a pool or even an elevated walking track located within a town hall building or the school. Is it possible to combine efforts and funding in these projects to save money?
