Election Day 2022 is approaching. The links below will lead you to information about voting and some of the candidates on the ballot. Our election coverage will continue next week.
Here is a link to a full ballot as it will appear in Pine Plains. Note the second page, an Environmental Bond Act that will appear on the reverse side of the ballot.
Election Day is November 8. In Pine Plains voting is held at the Town Hall between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm. Early voting happens from October 29 through November 6. Here is a link to the exact early voting times and places. You can place an early vote at any of the sites in Dutchess County.
Here are some of the key races for your consideration:
For Governor and Lieutenant Governor
Kathy Hochul and Antonio Delgado (D, WFP) vs. Lee Zeldin and Alison Esposito (R, C)
For U. S. Congress – NY 18th Congressional District
Pat Ryan (D, WFP) vs. Colin Schmitt (R, C)
Ryan won a special election in August and is a member of Congress representing the 19th Congressional District. Due to redistricting he is running in the 18th District. Pine Plains is moving from the 19th to the 18th District with this election. Schmitt is an Assemblyman looking to move from Albany to Washington.
New York State Senate
Susan Serino (R, C, I) vs Michelle Hinchey (D, WFP)
Both candidates are sitting state Senators. Due to redistricting their territories were merged and only one will remain in the State Senate after Nov 8.
Dutchess County Sheriff
Kirk Imperati (R, C) vs. Jillian Hanlon (D, WFP)
Imperati became Acting Sheriff upon the death of Butch Anderson. Hanlon is a reform-minded challenger.
