Harry Holleufer, formerly of Town Centre and Ancram, died on May 31, 2023, at the Noble Horizons senior living community in Salisbury, Connecticut, six weeks short of his 100th birthday.

Holleufer, the subject of a recent Herald profile, was born in Germany and served as a signal operator with the Germany Army in World War II.

He immigrated to the United States in the late 1950s and worked for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for 25 years. After retiring, he designed and built a home in Ancram.

Holleufer later moved to Pine Plains and lived in the Town Centre development for more than 10 years before recently moving to Salisbury. He was a member of the Young at Heart community group, and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and even occasionally gambled.

Holleufer is survived by his son, Thomas Holleufer, of Hudson; his daughter, Doris Holleufer; of London, England; his loyal friend, Michael Manning, of Pine Plains; and his neighbors, Brian & Candi. Two daughters, Innes and Astrid, predeceased him, as did his two ex-wives, Trodal Holleufer and Hildegard Holleufer, as well as his longtime partner, Ursula Foster.

Graveside services were held at St. James Cemetery in Ghent.
