Stewart’s Shops will suspend gas sales for approximately six weeks starting Sept. 10 at 5 p.m., according to store employees. The store, located at 7710 South Main St., will also close at that time, with a newly constructed store set to open the next morning, Sept. 11. The company expects gasoline sales to resume by mid-October. In the meantime, drivers will need to visit nearby gas stations in Millerton, Milan or Stanfordville, each about 10 miles away.
The revamped store will continue to offer its popular products, including coffee, beverages and grab-and-go meals. The new layout is designed to improve customer flow and reduce wait times, the company said.
The renovated location will have two new diesel pumps and eight regular gas pumps, significantly expanding its capacity. This upgrade is part of Stewart’s ongoing efforts to modernize its locations across the state, the company said.

The waiver of the existing ordinance/law to allow gas pumps in front of the store is a mistake.
It would have really helped the town’s character, walk-ability, and therefore economic development.
Still, thank you Stewart’s for all that you do for Pine Plains.
