Sarah Jackson: Individuation Made Visible: The Late Landscapes of Edvard Munch

February 1 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Edvard Munch is best known for “The Scream”, an image so iconic it has become shorthand for modern anxiety—even appearing as a widely used emoji. But how did an artist so closely associated with anguish come to paint radiant, life-affirming images of the sun just two decades later? In this illustrated presentation, Sarah Jackson will explore a sequence of Munch’s paintings, prints, and drawings that trace his late-life transformation. Through close attention to nature and the restorative effects of rural life, Munch’s work reveals a gradual process of healing and a return to psychological and artistic wholeness.
