Barbara A. Bartholf of Pine Plains died on Oct. 26. She was 84.

Bartholf was born on Feb. 20, 1941, in Tampa, Fla., the daughter of James and Isabel (Wheeler) Byrnes. She married Dale Bartholf on May 22, 1960. He died in 2012.

Barbara worked for IBM, and later in the Pine Plains schools cafeteria, where she worked for 25 years. She was also a charter member of the Pine Plains Bomber Boosters and of the Pine Plains Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. 

Bartholf is survived by three children: Dawn (Greg) Smith, David (Kelly) Bartholf and Denise (Mark) Loveland; six grandchildren: Michael (Lauren) Smith, Heather (Chris) Smith, Alecia (Zack) Stever, Lindsey Smith, James Loveland and Ashley (Kane) Blevins; and eight great-grandchildren: Skye, Aspyn, Callie, Carson, Shea, Cameron, Aubrie and Bryson. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Ann (Bill) Abrams and two nieces and two nephews.

The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations in Bartholf’s name may be made to the Pine Plains Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 100, Pine Plains, NY 12567.

  1. So sad to see this. Barbara was a wonderful person . I grew up with her in Pine Plains. I am sure she will leave her family with wonderful memories . Our class of 1959 was very special and Barbara was a friend who made it that way . She will be missed.
